Abstract

The third in the Tackling the Deficit series, this report outlines the policy context and analyses the current situation for local authorities in England. The report series aims to give snapshot views of the road safety profession. The first was published in October 2010 following the election of a new government, and the second in March 2011 following the 2011/2012 Local Government Finance Settlement. This third report of May 2012 comes at a time when local authorities have experienced budget cuts, and we can begin to study how they are coping and what support they require to move forwards. This report is a combination of desk-based research and analysis of survey responses, which were collected in an online survey circulated to members of ADEPT and TAG. (Author/publisher)
