Abstract

Fast reaction to changing conditions, opportunities and requirements gives remarkable advantage in the increasing competition. Value chain management and control is most important. This especially in Finland, where the share of logistics costs in the value chain is notable. Knowledge gives competitive advantage and helps to control costs. However, especially in the dynamic mobile environment, knowledge has so far not been effectively used.Technical constraints and costs have been the great challenge and barrier. This paper discusses TAPANI, the information system for the goods transport service network, that opens new opportunities for service network and value added transport chain management.
