Abstract

This paper describes two experiments to determine the reading time of destination route signs and a recently completed experiment to determine the visual load required to read network information presented as maps. In the future it is intended to determine the reading times of in-vehicle route guidance displays, the driving task simulator provides a convenient means of evaluating the visual demand of many information acquisition tasks.
