Abstract

A recent survey undertaken by the New South Wales Taxi Council revealed that the current daily taxi trips account for 10 per cent of overall CBD daily road traffic. The users are mainly business oriented, socially disadvantaged such as the disabled, and tourist related groups. With the continuous restraint in car parking supply and rise in parking charge, the growth of business /tourism activities and the stringent control on kerbside activities, taxi trips are expected to grow by 10 per cent per annum in the CBD. Efficient access to the city is vital to accommodate the future growth in taxi industry.
