Abstract

All aspects of driver instruction are discussed and requirements for minimum professional qualifications for instructors are outlined. New and standard instructional techniques are explained with sections on teaching aids and equipment, the driving simulator, educational television, psychological tests, programmed instruction and team teaching. There are also chapters on the accident problem, driver behaviour and the effect of alcohol, drugs and ageing traffic engineering research and practice, vehicle design, economics, administration and law. Bibliographies are given at the end of each chapter and there is a comprehensive subject index. An annotated list of traffic and safety agencies and related organisations is included.
