Abstract

The ITSWAP project aims to contribute to the development of innovative services delivering Internet-like information to mobile users. To achieve this, the project aims at establishing the technical and commercial feasibility of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) provided over Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). The project will define and test the WAP delivery mechanisms for a number of on-board and off-board ITS applications provided in four different field trial sites across Europe and will promote the adoption of WAP as an ITS platform for service providers and car industry. Sites are located in UK, France, Sweden and Italy. The paper presents the current results of the project.
