Abstract
Traffic safety is a social phenomenon and not alone a problem of traffic engineering. Measures for the prevention of the insecurity in traffic must be based on the knowledge of traffic accident causes.There is mostly no single cause, it is mostly a series of factors which lead in their totality to an accident. The areas for which a traffic safety policy is made are: the need for mobility and transport mode; traffic provisions; training, selection, education and information; and legislation and enforcement.
