Abstract
About a quarter of the cars, that were investigated after an accident, had defects that were defined as "accident causative". On top of the list of defective parts are the brakes, second the tyres. The defects on brakes are mostly because of wear, the tyres have not enough pressure. It is also clear that the age of the car is very important. There is a peak in unreliability when a car is about 4 years old and again at an age of 12 years. Anyway, in fact it is all really a matter of responsibility of the owner of the car.
