Abstract
Cities and metropolitan areas in the U.S.A. are reacting to present and projected urban congestion problems with traffic strategies which are aimed at improving the traffic carrying effectiveness of their present highway and street networks. Two areas which are quite important in any discussion dealing with traffic restraints in urban areas are bus priority system and vehicle detector research. These areas are discussed.
