Abstract

This report presents an update to statistical information on teenage and senior drivers in California that was published in earlier reports. The information is intended to assist highway safety administrators and legislators in making program, policy, and legal decisions affecting teen and senior drivers. A secondary purpose of the report is to provide information to the insurance industry researchers in the field of highway safety, and to the general public. The report also summarizes international research on the driving safety and driving-related abilities of teen and senior drivers, and on accident countermeasures for these two groups.
