Abstract

Four key factors summarize existing knowledge concernmgteenage drivers and alcohol use: 1) Teenagers drink anddrive less often than older (excluding elderly) drivers,2) In both fatal and nonfatal crashes, teenaged driversare generally less likely than older drivers to have beendrink mg, 3) Teenaged drivers who drink are more likelythan older drivers who drink to be involved ir. crashesand 4) Lowering the minimum drinking age increases the in-volvement of teenaged drivers in alcohol-related fatalcrashes.
