Abstract

The role of the emergency services today covers a range of skills which are targeted at actively restoring normality following an incident. The requirements and tasks that they are required to perform increase, almost on a daily basis, yet the ability to financially resource these requirements cannot be matched. As a result the emergency services are turning towards telematics and ITS technologies to maximize the use that can be made of finite resources. But it is the role that the telematic and ITS industry play in the development of these new technologies that is paramount to the effective provision of new technologies.
