Abstract

Thanks to telematics, new outlooks can now be envisaged for road safety improvement. This document presents the conclusions reached by the ATEC/ITS-France group on the matter: it lists the most promising applications (reduction of offences thanks to automated enforcement, systems specifically designed for drivers whose capacities have been reduced, diminution of warning time, including for isolated accidents, automatic adaptive speed limiter, automatic incident detection -AID- and incident management), identifies the factors that are hindering their deployment, makes various recommendations in order to progress, and outlines some plans of deployment. A conclusion and a selective bibliography come as a complement to the report.
