Abstract

With the increasing number of trucks the capacity of service areas is exceeded more and more often causing dangerous and chaotic situations in the access, exit and the service area as well. The Road Authorities of Rheinland-Pfalz see in the Telematics-Controlled Parking (TCP) a solution component to this problem. The system of TCP provides for trucks parking in lines one after the other arranged according to their departure time so that the capacity can be increased by 40-100% without any constructional extension of the service area. A first pilot project started in September 2005. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653
