Abstract

TELEflow is providing a new viewpoint of the supply chain, advocating the formulation of logistics networks by a number of independent, mainly small and medium sized enterprises, each one providing a specific capability that justifies its presence in the network. The nodes of such a network will be activated according to the needs of the specific problem that has to be solved, allowing various supply chain actors to be synthesised into a Value System, and disbanded just as quickly once the job is done. Value System Reengineering lies at the heart of this approach, allowing the assessment and selection among a number of rapidly developing alternative supply chains. In support of this concept, TELEflow is developing a telematics-based tool encompassing various applications as building blocks, linking the Value System components and providing the necessary transparency and logistics strategy guidance for assessing reengineering initiatives and identifying appropriate logistics solutions for solving distinct customer problems.
