This publication offers a manual for the framework, execution and processing of 14 commonly applied traffic investigation methods. These methods include: (1) the visual and mechanical road section counts; (2) the visual and electronic junction counts; (3) the radar and mechanical speed measurements; (4) the stopping time measurement; (5) the waiting time measurement; (6) the road crossability measurement; (7) the measurement of the amount of parking; (8) the duration of parking time measurement; (9) the registration plate investigation; (10) "the red light discipline" measurement; and (11) the vehicle occupancy measurement. The publication describes general points of attention. The publication presents the following aspects for each method: (a) characterization and limitations; (b) preparations; (c) the measurement location; (d) the duration of measuring time; (e) observers; (f) instruction; (g) registration form; (h) apparatus; (i) data processing; and (j) the value of the results.
