Abstract

The Tempe Bikeway Study got underway in Fall, 1971, and consisted of four phases: survey, background data gathering, design and review. Each of these four phases is described and discussed. In total approximately 80 miles of bikeways will be constructed. About 10 miles of bicycle paths and two miles of bicycle lanes have been now constructed. It will give a substantial, comprehensive commitment to bicycling, and safer, pleasant bicycling environment for Tempe's estimated 70.000 bicyclists.
