Abstract

Urban transportation professionals must manage a variety of technical and politically sensitive requests, projects, programs, and issues. To be successful, these professionals need to evolve with a variety of skills to interact effectively in a public and political environment. The 10 tips presented in this article share observations on methods used by effective transportation managers who are responsible for addressing urban transportation issues. All involve thinking ahead and thinking strategically.
