This CD-ROM contains the PIARC Technical Dictionary of Road Terms and Lexicon of Road and Traffic Engineering and other specialized dictionaries and glossaries. It enables the simultaneous consultation of several dictionaries in three languages maximum. Combined with the Internet technology, it enables the user to download and consult updated dictionaries even after the date of release of the CD-ROM (summer 2000). If one or more terms are added to the PIARC Dictionary, the CD-ROM user can download and consult them. The same goes for the addition of a new language or bibliographical reference in terminology on the PIARC website, i.e. the user has access free of charge to these new items of information. Abbreviations, synonyms, grammatical attributes, definitions, illustrations and notes on the geographical origin of synonyms (if they are indicated in the first database). The CD-ROM contains a French and an English version of Internet Explorer 5. As 1st June 2002, electronic versions of the dictionary in English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian can be downloaded from PIARC website.
