Abstract
The German consumer organisation Stiftung Warentest reports on tests conducted on 15 different models of child restraint seats of two types, viz.: 6 chairs with frame and 9 shell-shaped seats. Impact tests with dummies simulating a 1½ and 3 years old child showed that all frame-type models were inadequate. Only two of the shell-shaped seats were rated ''very good'' and two others ''fair''. Recommendations are given for safe restraints.
