Abstract

This paper compares three possible test procedures for frontal impact protection. These are: (1) the orthogonal frontal impact (of the type in force in the United States); (2) an impact against 30 degree angled barrier; and (3) a 45% offset impact. The paper takes particular note of the injury tolerance criterion.
