Abstract

Assuming questions regarding product liability law in the use of Driver Assistance Systems, the research project RESPONSE, funded by the European Commission, is developing methodology for user-orientated development and testing of these systems. The testing process has been conceived as a framework model to accompany development and includes processes of risk identification, risk assessment and decision making. Particular attention has been paid here to the requirements and prerequisites of potential risk groups, such as elderly drivers and beginners. Initial experiences in using this methodology in conjunction with investigations regarding a Heading Control System are described. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
