Abstract

A system used to record vehicle speed and lateral movement is based on the use of "tapeswitch'' detectors. To determine accuracy of the system comparison tests were carried out with time-lapse photography for determining lateral movement, with radar to determine speed, and with an instrumented vehicle and a fifth wheel to determine speed when the car passed over the tape. The test results are briefly discussed in this paper.
