Abstract

Bridge construction consisting of open steel box girders and a concrete deck slab acting composite is aesthetically pleasing and ideally suited for grade separations on river crossing for spans varying from 21.3 m to 106.7 m. Current design specification regarding this construction are incomplete and do not provide sufficient guidance during the construction stage. Excessive displacements have even occurred during construction. To examine this problem tests are carried out and the results are presented.
