Abstract

The Texas A&M Research Foundation, College Station, Texas, has been awarded $ 150,000 to design highway light standards that would not be deadly to unfortunate motorists hitting them as those now in use. Terms of the contract call for the development of a mathematical model that can be used evaluate the hazard potential of existing and proposed light pole designs. It also requires the research agency to perform full-scale tests to verify.
