Abstract

According to Dutch legislation, advisory speed limits should only be used on curves with a small radius, although there has been an increasing demand in recent years for w wider application of advisory speed limits. The behaviour of drivers on curves and the forces working on the vehicle and its occupants are examined. In evaluating the effectiveness of advisory speed limits as means of influencing speed behaviour, the limit of comfort has essential priority.
