Abstract

The comprehensive automobile traffic control system (CACS) developed in Japan consists of five sub- systems. A pilot experiment was carried out using CACS in Tokyo from October 1977 to September 1978. The experiment was a success and some of the roadside installations have continued to be used subsequently by various organizations. A travel time monitoring system has been installed and is operating on the access roads to Narita International Airport.
