Abstract

The basic task of EUCO- COST 30 bis Working Group 1 on "electronic road /vehicle communcations" set up in 1982, was to determine what aspects of a road /vehicle electronic communication link should be standardized for Pan- European use. A survey of existing and proposed systems was undertaken by means of a questionnaire survey. The systems surveyed were classified in terms of their communication links; vehicle- borne aids, area broadcast systems, local road side transmitter systems, mobile radio system, local roadside transponder systems.
