Abstract

The stability characteristics of an uncontrolled motorcycle running on a flat and level road surface are investigated. An analytical model is developed with flexibilities of the front and the rear frames of the motorcycle being taken into account, which yields an eight-degree-of-freedom system. Steady aerodynamic forces, obtained experimentally, are also included in the analysis.
