Abstract

This dissertation is based on measuring the value of increased traffic safety. The aim is to describe and analyse these three approaches and the problem of "valuing human life". Different ways of measurement are described. The report tries to answer the following questions. 1) What is the benefit to society of reducing the risk of accidents by building new, safer roads? 2) Does any economic approach or any combination of approaches answer this specific question?
