Abstract

The lack of time forstereoscopic vision at supersonic speeds (stereoscopic scotoma) must be considered as a possible contributory factor in some air accidents involving high speed aircraft. Electronic engineered depth and distance control as part of a collision avoidance system probably will be necessary in future high performance aircraft for maximum safety.
