Abstract

Past analyses indicate that tire carcass deformation is necessary for the dynamic hydroplaning of pneumatic tires. This study presents analytical and experimental confirmation of this theory. The ways in which the results can be used to assist in studying the effects of the tire carcass and tread pattern on wet traction are discussed.
