Abstract

The consideration of tire-pavement friction in the planning and design of a roadway so that the adequate skid-resistance is provided for particular vehicle maneuvers and various highway geometrics, is advocated. The argument that tire-pavement friction should be considered during the design of a new highway facility is presented.
