Abstract

Tire-pavement interaction is the predominant subsource of noise from properly maintained automobiles traveling at speeds above 20 mph. Tire-pavement noise is complex, and different mechanisms prevail on different pavement surfaces. The sound generation and sound enhancement mechanisms of the tire-pavement interface are presented in this article.
