Abstract

The major portion of this book, consisting of an experimental and an analytical part, has been subdivided according to two categories: 1) The tire supports the vertical axle loads and transmits longitudinal braking or driving forces; 2) The tire is called upon to supply the lateral cornering and amber forces which are necessary for the directional control of the vehicle. The experimental part has been generally restricted to steady-state or slowly varying motions, whereas the analytical part treats also high-frequency and non-steady state behaviour of the tire. Experimental results have also been added.
