Abstract

Modern composite synthetic drains are being used frequently as joint filler/in joint drains in the renovation of concrete roads. Insufficiently free draining subbases cause water to be impounded in and under the expansion joints with the result that repeated freeze/thaw cycles may seriously damage the road surface near the joints. Composite strip drains constitute a cost effective solution to this problem.
