Abstract

The designer of traffic facilities disposes of few guidelines for his-designs; derived from behavioristical theories. The analyses of the influencing factors on the driving task and on the performance thereof given information about the necessary functions and facilities the driver must have. Problem areas and deficiencies may be detected. The following examples have been worked out: pedestrian crossing and the use of flashing bights for pedestrians on signalised intersections, providing a yield situation for pedestrians while other road-traffic must obey the signals.
