Abstract

Research and practical experience show that, in addition to many other factors, the design of the built environment likewise has an influence on the occurrence of vandalism and break- ins and the perception of safety or its absence. To gain a better insight a field survey was done and a checklist has been developed. The principal conclusion of the report is that the checklist is a good instrument for tracking down the most vulnerable locations from the point of view of public security.
