Abstract

During the $810 million reconstruction of the Marquette Interchange in downtown Milwaukee the largest road project in Wisconsin's history the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) implemented a community-sensitive design approach. The Wisconsin DOT and Marquette University, a major stakeholder, developed processes to communicate and collaborate effectively tominimize disruptions for all groups affected by the project. These are discussed in this article. Included with this article is an insert that presents a brief summary of the Marquette Interchange Project.
