Abstract

This paper outlines some initial ideas towards a conceptual framework for describing driver behaviour related to the interaction with in-vehicle systems. A model of the driving task based on a hierarchical control scheme is proposed as the core element of such a framework. Examples are given that illustrate how the framework could be used for conceptualising some key phenomena related to drivers' interaction with in-vehicle systems. (Author/publisher)
