Abstract

In the EC-funded MOVE-it (Motorway Operators Validate EFC for interoperable transport) project, European motorway operators try to conquer the obstacles in the establishment of inter-operable EFC for motorway tolling. Contractual inter-operability is one of the main issues. User needs with respect to security, vehicle classification, non equipped users and validation requirements is the other. This paper reports on the intermediate findings in the project. The exchange of information and experience between nearly all European motorway operators results in a mutual understanding of the problems faced and leads to a harmonised view on the possible solutions for inter-operable EFC systems.
