The aim of the paper is to display data on the child pedestrian accidents population, according to the town size where they occur. Vulnerability has been assessed from the frequency of pedestrian accidents on the population aged 15 years and less, for the French population as a whole. The ratio has then been provided for 7 built-up areas according to size. Seriousness has been evaluated likewise. From the results, the frequency increases simultaneously with the increase of urban built-up areas: the larger they are, the higher the damage occurring to the child population. Seriousness decreases with urban size. These results will be discussed in relation to knowledge about young pedestrian accidents and prevention.(A)
