Abstract

In the Netherlands a lot of new urban developments have been realized. Also the bicycle is a very important means of transport, so one could expect to see a lot of good examples of urban bicycle planning. However, this is not the fact. There is a rich cycle tradition and why are complete facilities for cyclists not made as a rule? What happens when cycle traffic requirements are taken seriously can be seen in the new town of Houten.
