Towns against traffic.

Abstract

If we wish to save our towns then we must accept restrictions on the use of motor vehicles within them, and we must accept public transport as the norm. We must design a system of public transport that is fast, economic and efficient and meets the need of business and individuals. We must abandon the paradoxical idea that public transport must be ''profitable'' while road building can swallow the community resources and destroy its environment on an unlimited scale.
