Abstract
Progress with the TPEG (Transport Protocol Experts Group) data protocol to provide multimodal travel time information (TTI) data is described. TPEG technology is now standardised in Europe (by CEN) and worldwide (by ISO) in two Technical Specifications: one for TPEG-Binary and one for tpegML. Current areas of standards development work are described. The European Broadcasting Union sponsors TPEG development through the TPEG Forum, which operates through the Standards Task Force and the Implementation Task Force. The need for maintaining and developing TPEG standards is emphasized.
