Abstract

An analytical study is made of the directional stability and control of a tractor and fully independent trailer combination travelling at a constant forward speed in a steady, flat turn. Exploratory calculations are performed to determine the influence of basic de sign parameters of the trailer on steady-state response and dynamic stability performance. The results are presented in the form of graphs and discussed, with emphasis placed upon the identification of the relative importance of the factors involved.
