Abstract

This book is for traffic accident investigators. It is intended especially to be used in training police officers who will be assigned to work connected with traffic accidents. The emphasis therefore, is on getting facts, recording facts, and other responsibilities at the scene of the accident rather than on drawing inferences about how to or why an accident occurred. A manual like this is more than a handbook because it is not limited to reference about material which an investigator might be expected to carry about with him; on the other hand, it is less than a textbook which would be expected to include problems or exercises, review material, and more extensive references to other publications. Each unit or chapter deals with a specific topic and can be used as the basis for one or more lessons in a training course.
