Abstract

Driving performance measures in the form of conventional administrative driver record data are explored to orient accident prevention counter-measures for drivers. The distributions of accidents and convictions for traffic offences in a representative sample of drivers are described as they relate to driver biographic factors of age, sex, place of residence and driving experience. The relation of recorded convictions to accident involvements is also examined as a means of identifying drivers more likely to be involved in future accidents. /author/
