Abstract

The results of a study of 330 traffic accidents involving 518 injured car occupants are presented. The highest number injured was found in the front seats, the highest percentage of injured were found among the rear seat passengers. There was a very low percentage of passengers using belts in the rear seat. A five year study of traffic accidents concerning children injured as car occupants has also been done. It includes 678 injured children and 113 children not injured. The majority of the injuries could have been avoided by using child restraint, the study shows how important it is to make this measure obligatory.
