Abstract

Statistical, mathematical, and physical tools that will enable traffic engineers and planners to produce solutions in which they will have confidence are described. Discussed are the need for data; how to set up experiments; how to test hypotheses for data relating to vehicle counts; speed and travel studies; origin destination studies; vehicle trip generations, parking surveys; road safety and environmental and energy impacts.
